Our next project, MASTER COPY/ MASTER STUDY is due, Monday, October 28th. This project requires TWO separate paintings done in egg tempera: This is both a research project and to give you parameters and context for working within another artist's aesthetic. These two paintings should work as a series, and look as if they came out of the same studio. 

Parameters for two-part project:

PART ONE (Master Copy):
1. Must be minimally 18"x 24", done in egg tempera on gessoed panel or masonite
2. Master work must be graphic in nature (2-D, no digital or photography)
3. Must be figurative

PART TWO (Master Study):

1. Must be minimally 18"x 24", done in egg tempera on gessoed panel or masonite
2. Must maintain tonal range, mark-making, compositional integrity, and aesthetic of your master

3. Must look as if your master study came from your master's studio.

4. Must be figurative

5. Must be done from life

Research your master and read his/her artist statement. Figure out WHAT, WHY, & HOW (s)he makes the art they do. Your original piece should reflect this same drive and filters.
