  1. Your paintings definitely look like they could be a series. The shadows in both are really great. In your master study, I really like the shadows around the door and frame. In the Master Copy, there are different shades of skin stone that lead in to the dark shadows and I feel like that tonal variation is missing in yours. Because of that, the skin on your study's figure falls a little flat.

  2. the palette and composition definitely entail for me that it is the same artist from the same studio. I think these would work well in a gallery but they should be spread apart and not shown next to each other. The light is shown well within these pieces and i think the shadows strengthen this piece

  3. I was actually surprised this was tempera, you handled it really well. It is too bad we didn't get to talk about these in class. The use of shadows and darks are handled well in both images. I think they work well next to each other, you have this very warm mastery copy with your cool master study, the color choice of the blues and purples pop against the reds and oranges of the copy. The study even feels like it could be the same woman from the copy. Because of all of these elements, I feel like they go together and are from the same artist/series. I think it would have been nice to see a bit more of some warm tones in her skin for the study.

  4. These paintings are very beautiful. It definitely seems like they came from the same studio. The pose that you chose and the way you painted the background really brings the two paintings together. I really love the way you painted the skirt on your study figure, I'm amazed that you were able to do that with tempera.

  5. You have a way to your work by making everything look like it's with oil which makes me really jealous. There's no question about them being from the same artist and series. It seems as if one girl is getting ready for dance and there's a door in front of her already on the floor dancing. I think just to bring them more slightly together would be to use more of an orange on the study in the girl's dress. I find your sense of blending with tempera quite remarkable.

  6. Wow these are beautiful. I love the dark contrasting shadows in them both and I would have also thought oil paint, which has got to be challenging with tempera. Both have strong narrative in the ideas of the dancer and they tell a story together. Both have strong contrasting colors and they come across as very dynamic. There are moments in the paintings that are plain masterful. For example I love the shadow underneath the dancer in the study, and in your copy I really enjoy the orange background with very oil like brush strokes! All in all I believe you met all the requirments and made some really beautiful art!

  7. Excellent job rendering your figures. I think I would believethat tehse came from the same studio the use of strong colors and lighting really comes through both very well, and the subjects are similar yet distinct to show that they belong together, but are not necessarily part of a specific narrative.

  8. Wow I am so impressed with these. I can not believe you did this project twice. You are so ambitious. These paintings are so incredibly beautiful! Your biggest strength are an artist is your blending abilities. Though you are emulating another artist, I can definitely see your style.
