  1. The detail is a definite plus that works for me within this piece. I can definitely read that these came from the same studio and if they were shown together i feel that action would be more than applicable. the palette is flawless and the composition as well. I think a frame would be the best addition for these pieces.

  2. I love the texture you created in both pieces, the colors are vibrant and work well together. They work great together and definitely feel like the come from the same artist/series. I don't know much about this artist but if you hadn't told me which one was the copy, I'm not sure I would know since both feel like they could have been the original. You handled the tempera really well. This is a small thing but I almost wish that the study went in the other direction from the copy.

  3. I love looking at all of the texture in the cloth/laundry stuff. I like this because its really different from the paintings I've seen you do in this class. The paintings look like they were both done by Mel Kadel. I looked at her other paintings and I feel like yours is something that would come out of her studio as well, nice!

  5. I really love looking at these paintings. I just like getting lost in the different designs on the fabric and the colors that Kadel uses really keep the designs from looking chaotic and overwhelming. I would definitely say that these two paintings came from the same artist. I think you did a great job in making your figure and concept look like the the masters.

  6. I don't understand how you were able to render the copy and study so well because they use such a fine detail in the work, but I feel you did this remarkably. I honestly wouldn't have the patience to for such fine detail but I really love the choice you made. These make such a great series and the idea behind them blends together very well. This seems very different from your style and I enjoyed watching your pieces come to life.

  7. Watching you paint this, I know that there was a lot of effort put into this assignment. You have sucessfully rendered a master study that looks identical to the master copy. You have mastered the painters style as well as the palatte. The only thing that bothers me is the three patterns of fabric in the right hand corner of your master study. They seem a little arbitrary. Other than that, your composition is interesting and captures a childlike narrative.

  8. I love these pieces. However I need to get it out before I finish critiquing, the clothes billowing out of the suitcase makes sense, and the bird made out of fabric does not to me. I wish you had used different feather patterns instead. That being said, I think you did a fantastic job of creating a master study and copy. There is not more that could be changed.
