  1. At first, I felt as though your master study didn't "come out of the same gallery"...but then I did some research on your artist, and your painting looks like something he would do! I think the connection between your master copy and and master study would have been a little bit more understandable if you had done the paintings with a more similar subject matter. I hope that makes sense. Zdzislaw Beksiński has single figure paintings and they look very much like your study. Now that I see the similarity between your study and the artist's work, I really appreciate that I can see your own style coming through. Nice job!

  2. To be honest these would be pieces of art that i would buy or trade my art for. I like them allot because of the palette choice and composition. I feel because of the unique palette that these piece came from the same artist. I thought that that figure in your study was a close up of the figure walking in the copy. I think they would work well together in a gallery.

  3. I agree with Cheyne, the figure in your master study looks like he's the figure running in the master copy. I really enjoy the the detail you put into the figure on your painting, its very skeletal yet beautiful. I think that the use of the same palette really helped connect the two paintings, but the way you added what looks like muscle tissue made of metal, and how you blurred the figures shoulders and head looks very similar to the hands in this particular painting. I'm not sure if 84 02000 is the title, but here is the link if you're curious. http://art.vniz.net/en/beksinski/Beksinski-84_02000.html

  4. I don't see these pieces as being in the same collection, but I definitely see them being from the same artist. I love the dark creepy type artist's work. They always seem to pull me in and keep my attention. I love the choice of you using the same color palette as well because that definitely keeps them on a common ground so one knows it's from the same artist at least. Good job!

  5. I like them together and like mentioned the figure in your apprentice study looks like he's out of the masters scene. It works well together and I the pallete works well with them both. I admire the choice of something darker which I also agree pulls me in. There is a narrative created for me and I feel like the copy could be palyed up and go all out. I dig the mood this created for me!

  6. with just these images to look at I would not be conmvinced that these were from the same studio. The composition and brushstrokes do not seem to match well. While I think the palette you chose is very good at creating a connection, the overall tones of the pieces seem quite different to me as yours feels more defiant than ominous/forebidding.

  7. the study is not as well done as the copy might i suggest using references? but the copy is so great! really awesome gothic feel to it from the deep reds, browns, and greys.

  8. I think these are two very cool pieces on their own. I don't think they look like they came from the same artist other than they have a similar color palate. I love the second painting!!!! The way that boy or girl's head is disintegrating is interesting to look at.

  9. I feel like these pieces work well on their own, and not part of the same artist, but your reproduction of the master copy is great! Personally I love the top one more, but I think it's due to the fact of the darker tones throughout the majority of the piece. The copy is great, but I wish it had a little bit more going on, especially to reproduce that dark effect. Great job.
