  1. Your copy looks so similar to Jackson Sze's original; that's awesome. There is a very stronf connection between your study and the copy and it seems as though they came from the same studio. I really like the simplicity of your painting. The shadows are very nice. I love the way your paint looks on the watercolor paper, I wouldn't have guessed that it's tempera.

  2. I think that the study looks as if it was created years before the copy. It appears to me that you created the study because within the copy exists much more definite shape and color. It is hard for me to read what is happening in the study but very easy to read what is happening in the copy. Overall job well done.

  4. These pieces are awesome and so carefully treated with the tempera on the water color paper. I like how the colors are placed on the paper and it creates a world for the viewer to enter. They definitely look like they came from the same srudio and I think there is a definite strong narrative in these paintings.Great wwork!

  5. I really love the way both of these turned out, they definitely feel like they go together and come from the same artist/studio. You used the tempera really interestingly so that it felt almost like watercolor. I think this was mentioned during critique, but it would have been nice if the girl in the master study were wearing the same or similar dress to the girl in the master copy, this was create a interesting narrative between the two, although they still work together well even without it.

  6. I'm highly impressed at how well the master copy is so similar to the original. Only difference I see is your colors are a little bit darker then the original but that's it. As of the master study, I really love as well, but as we said in class I would've enjoyed seeing the little girl have stripes on her shirt as well so then one can relate both pieces to one another. It does very much so look like an image from when she was younger in the copy and then her grown up in the study. I think I'd also suggest in the study to just add a light blue wash in the sky so it doesn't look so empty in white.

  7. I think your master study reflects your master copy wonderfully! It looks like you used similar brush strokes and the warm colors on the oddly creature match the warm colors in the landscape. Because of the similar brush strokes and warm tones Its highly believable that these paintings came from the same artist. Beautiful paintings as always :)

  8. I feel like these could be from the same studio. As a series I feel like they are missing pieces and the narrative is incomplete. I think that your treatment do show a good study and I think you have done a great job in terms of copying the overall style of the artist.

  9. these paintings are my favorite out of the class. both have tight structure and great palette choices. you really captured the essence of miyazaki!

  10. Great job on this project! I think you've captured the artist's style quite well. The brush stroke and delicateness of the first is translated to the master study. Great job in capturing the narrative and taking the second piece to another dimension (a sad undertone).

  11. These pieces are incredible! Your ability to reproduce work is amazing. I think that you have captured his style, along with incorporating your own perfectly. The narrative of this piece reads to me like a Miyazaki film, and works wonderfully. Great job!
