  1. These pieces have a lot of fun ideas and there is an undoubtable surrealist vibe I get from them both. I like them seperate more than together but I still do believe they came from the same studio when it comes conceptually. The apprentice study to me seems like it needs some adjusting to composition maybe. The heart seems to take over the painting leaving the objects at the bottom sort of lost. Still I like the idea in the painting.

  2. I wasn't sure how well your study works with the copy until I looked up your artist, and now I think they fit together much more than I thought before. As you mentioned it class, the addition of the tv was too much and the image would work better if it were cut out. It feels like they could come from the same artist, although Dika's work seems to be more graphic with vibrant colors. Maybe these would work better together if you went with warmer colors for the heart image and work out the style just a bit more. Both turned out well.

  3. You chose a fun picture for your master copy. Because I looked up your artist, I feel a type of connectivity between your two pictures. I agree with Jeffrey, the composition on your study could use a little adjusting. The concept you are trying to portray in your study is a little fuzzy to me: I'm not exactly sure what the point is....maybe there is no point? With that said, both of your paintings are interesting.

  4. I think they were both well done and it was a good concept minus the over complication bit. also small composition issues on the study but good work.

  5. At first I didn't see the connection between the two paintings, but when I looked up some more of his work, your study painting really fits his palette and style. I think it resembles his paintings, Moment Catcher, Extraordinary Observer, and Tree of Life the most. After having seen more of his work, I would say that these paintings came from the same studio.

  6. I really love the choice of artist you stuck with. The ideas are both so fun and intriguing. I can see these from the same artist with the concept but not in the same series. If you were to bring them together in a series, I think I'd want to see more vibrant colors in your study. I think it'd also be more effective with just the heart and ink. Your study looks so realist to me which is really quite neat and hard to render.

  7. I cannot see these paintings working together as a series. I think that conceptually you attempted to work at the same goals, but I think the simplicity and clarity of the original is definitely missing from your study. While the concept and pun of the original is rather easy to understand, I find myself working hard to see the meaning in your work. I think that on it's own your study is not bad. A few compositional corrections would make it much stronger - Specifically fewer elements, and more balance in size between the elements. I think you have a good start to a series of your own though.

  8. My critique is primarily the same as was said in class. You just need to simplify the second painting. I think if you removed the ink bottle the painting would have a similar simplistic composition to the first painting. I do like the heart with the wires in the master study. Very cool.

  9. I really like the first image the best, and wish you had continued on the vibe with the blues and oranges, instead of using another image by the artist to influence your study. I feel that the second image is a little bit more complex than the first which makes it hard to read. Overall I think you did a great job with both pieces.
