  1. I really liked the image as a whole. the thickness of the paint and smooth tones like ive seen you produce multiple times is appealing. I think it speak to a narrative because I wonder why this is how you felt. is it sexual confidence because of where the robe is placed or a missing identity. but you get the point there are many questions to ask but overall nice work and color combo

  2. You chose a really nice color palette. The flower type texture in the background is really apealing to me. The image itself stands out because of the really dark background, which I also find appealing. The veil that you have painted is so well done! I enjoy that transparency of it. I don't get any type of sexual narrative from your painting, I feel as though it has more to do with comfort and contentment....

  3. I absolutely love your style of painting and how you can make everything look so smooth and dimensional. I think my favorite aspect of this piece is how you rendered the veil and I can really feel a sense of sadness coming from this piece. It really keeps one thinking what the sorrow behind this piece is that she's feeling and how you were feeling when creating this work. There is true beauty seen through this piece. Great choices in the color palette.

  4. This is a very fun piece to compare to your other work. It is very different, but also very similar. Your choices of color are interesting and your rendering of the background and veil are great. The spotlight effect is very different, although it reminds me of your paintings from the master copy/study project. Good job overall, and I think it will be good for you to keep trying to be looser in your style as an exercise, even if you go back to painting more highly rendered pieces.

  5. Well executed piece. I particularly love the mystery and majesty associated with the figure. The veil covering their eyes (windows to the soul); the colors purple and gold I attribute to royalty. This figure is so haunting -I am craving the narrative. I am a little distracted by the black space at the top right of the frame, but the darkening of the pink petal-shapes into the dark helps me to understand the space better. I would suggest adding more, darker petal-shapes, extending into the darkness.

  6. The perspective of this piece is eerie. The shadows and pale skin make me think that this woman is not shameful but yet hiding her identity cause she knows her female figure is just another female figure to the viewers. Your proportions are refreshing.

  7. The veil is gorgeous, and I love the skin tone you used. Great proportions and I love how well the nose and lips came out! I agree with Diego, it would be great to see the beautiful petals fade into the background. I think it would give the piece a sense that that figure is small in comparison to a vase world, but for whatever reason we've been drawn into her reality.

  8. I really like the way this is going. I really enjoy the cool palette you decided to go with, especially for her skin tone. The bright, petal like, spots of color that surround her are a nice balance to the purples and greys of the figure and clothes. It would have been nice to see another image done in a similar style of the other figures. She feels like a queen to me sitting her in throne with a cool confidence. The only thing that really stood out to me was her hand it feels a little odd but I think you were still working on it.

  9. This is such a feminine piece, I love it! I read this as being a very strong female who despite being shielded by a hood is powerful and not shy. That can either be attributed to her lack of clothing or the color choice. I can't decide what it is but either way you've created a combination of powerful female elements. Gorgeous choice of colors. I just love looking at those pink fluffy plant things.

  10. you make everything look so easy. Though your figure is the color of marble, you were able to create a figure reads as a human, not a sculpture. Nine times out of ten, a composition that uses only black, white, gold, purple, and red would probably feel dissonant or unfinished, but you were able to bring these colors together harmoniously. Like Zach was saying, this piece ignites questions, and I find myself wanting to see a series of paintings in this style. great job!

  11. Well I typed out a long critique, and then it didn't post. So here's what I said in gist: I love your positioning of the model and the colors you chose to use, specifically the greys and the purples. I can see the improvements in your painting from day one, and am greatly impressed from your advancement! There is a sense of mystery and almost a feeling of medieval times. I am in love with this piece!

  12. Nips are the tips. Strong movement diagonally from upper left to bottom right. The placement of your negative space works well for the painting. The treatment of the background offers a decent contrast with the figure, both in color and brushstroke. The figure being painted in a style that is unfamiliar to you shows a bit with the strokes almost looking like pixelation with some areas that reflect your standard even blending

  13. considering this was your 4th project you cranked out, this is awesome! i love that you attempted to go a little looser but all of the details still resonate really well.
