This class involves learning the complexities of painting directly from life. Dual emphasis on exploration paint and surface, as well as the figure will be developed. This course will cover the history and appreciation of contemporary painting and will cover a wide range of painting techniques. Students will work up to developing their own personal style within the confines of academic figurative art.
I like how this artist renders figure i think it is very refreshing to look at. The only thing that does not work for me is the palette of the study i feel that it needs the smallest touch of vibrance. These pieces definetly entail that the same artist created them.
I think these two work really well and feel like they come from the same artist. Your figures in the master study have just as much life and personality as the figures in the master copy. I agree with Cheyne, there is something about the color that makes me feel like it needs a bit more of a pop to it. I think the master study was taken from an older picture so maybe that has something to do with it. These have to be some of my favorites from this assignment, I think yours turned out so well I love looking at them. :) You really managed to capture the style of the original artist.
I think the opaque blues and pinks are very much like the master's, but I think that the blacks and browns in the master copy are darker. I feel like you captured the hands and eyes like the your master artist very well. Even the brushstrokes on the hair look alike. I think because you were able to copy these styles from your master artist, both paintings seem like they came from the same studio. I agree with Alise these paintings are great to look at.
I can really see these pieces coming together and being in a collection from the same artist. My suggestion on the master copy is to lighten up the palette because it just seems a little bit too dark in comparison to one another. In my opinion, it almost seems as the master copy is the children and the study is the parents of the children. I'm not sure if that's what you were going for, but I think it's a great pair together.
These two paintings have a lot of life and style to them. I like the masters use of bold lines in the figure and I think you did this well. I think the photos dont give complete justice but tje colors in person to me seemed to work well enogh that I believe that they were made in the same studio. I like how you got in the head of your artist, and I think my only advice could be use of bright colors like the pinks in the first painting. This might bring more unity
These paintings definitely look like they came from the same artist. Both paintings have an exaggerated style and contain rich colors. I love that you painted your parents in the master study. It's funny because it looks like a painting of the parents and their children.
These two pieces have so much in common it's uncanny that they didn't originate from the same artist. I can really feel the sameness of the opaque colors and thick outlines. The only thing I would suggest would be to use a more similar color palate, perhaps with more pinks in them. This looks like portraits of children and their parents!
