This class involves learning the complexities of painting directly from life. Dual emphasis on exploration paint and surface, as well as the figure will be developed. This course will cover the history and appreciation of contemporary painting and will cover a wide range of painting techniques. Students will work up to developing their own personal style within the confines of academic figurative art.
These pieces bing up an unique situation for me that I think the study looks much better in my opinion than the copy. I feel that the composition and form of color works much more in the study than the copy for me at least. Over all it looks as if both came out of the same studio within the same time period....job well done.
I like the study much more than the copy actually and when I first saw these is class I thought your study was the copy. Together they work really well together and feel like the same artists work. I don't know about this artist, but I like the movement in the copy and I wish your study had a bit more movement. You handled the brush strokes and color placement great and similar to the master.
I think you used the color scheme well to imitate and it looks rather believable. I think the simplicity stands out more in the study where as the copy has a little more movement and multiple focuses
I really think the colors and how you rendered them between both the copy and study are right on point. For some reason when I was viewing the study I thought the subject was an Indian with feathers in her hair. I find this series to work quite magnificently together.
I love the colors used and how they are placed so randomly yet very harmonically. I think they create a mood and a whole new world for the viewer. I get a very tribal or jungle feel from them and I like your choice of artist. They are strong pieces and they work well with eachother. I would believe them as a series and almost want to see a third!
the colors in both of these paintings are really great both seem to feel alive. i think a more dynamic angle for the master study would have made the two paintings stronger, but the palette choice was still excellent nonetheless.
Both of these paintings have such a great vibrancy. Your master study is gorgeous! You have used a very similar color palatte and brush stroke that was used in the master copy.
I think that your colors and overall style are great in your study, but compositionally it is much more static than the copy. This does not make me disbelieve the series or that it came from the same studio, but it really changes the narrative between the pieces.
You are able to simulate the colors, mark making, and style of your artist really well! The only thing I wish was done differently was that your study had more movement throughout the piece to have it be more convincing that it came from the same artist. I love them both!
